Criterion Industries supplies a complete range of lead lamination products for spaces that house radiation equipment, including medical facilities, dental practices, veterinary clinics and university research labs.
From doors to walls to vision panels, we can supply the shielding elements of your fitout together, keeping specification consistent and your project on schedule.
Manufactured with a lead sheet sandwiched within the door structure, finished with either ply or MDF skins.
Lead lining is available across our full range of sheet weights to suit your specified shielding requirement select the sheet weight your radiation report calls for.
| Lead rating |
|---|
| 10 kg/m² (2 of 0.44mm) |
| 20 kg/m² (2 of 0.88mm) |
| 30 kg/m² (2 of 1.32mm) |
Lead types for doors are 10kg, 20kg and 30kg. Where 5kg, 15kg or 25kg lead is specified, round up to the nearest even kg rating so the door is built with a balanced construction.
12mm lead glass, available in a range of panel sizes suited for our lead lined timber doors.
Keeps a clear line of sight to the equipment without compromising the door's shielding.
| Daylight Size | Specification |

A range of substrates lead lined for wall shielding, fire rated, impact and RE plasterboard, structural ply and MDF in thicknesses from 9mm to 16mm.
Lead is bonded to the rear of each board with a 20mm overlap to one long edge, giving continuous shielding across joins as the boards integrate with the rest of the wall build-up.
| Substrate | Thickness |
|---|---|
| Fire Rated Plasterboard | 13mm, 16mm |
| Impact Plasterboard | 13mm |
| Recessed Edge Plasterboard | 13mm |
| Structural Ply (A-bond) | 9mm, 12mm |
| MDF Sheet | 9mm, 12mm |
Plasterboard up to 1200 × 3000mm; ply and MDF 2400 × 1200mm. Lead sheet weight specified to suit your radiation report.
| Weight | Thickness (mm) |
|---|---|
| 5 kg/m² | 0.44 |
| 10 kg/m² | 0.88 |
| 15 kg/m² | 1.32 |
| 20 kg/m² | 1.76 |
| 25 kg/m² | 2.20 |
| 30 kg/m² | 2.64 |
Radiation shielding is specified two ways — a lead-equivalence rating in millimetres of lead (mmPb), or an areal weight in kilograms per square metre (kg/m²). Your radiation physicist's report states the value required for each room.
The thickness of solid lead that gives the same X-ray attenuation as the material, written as mmPb. Lead glass and composite linings are rated this way.
The mass of lead per square metre of surface. Lead has a density of 11.34 g/cm³, so 1mm of lead ≈ 11.34 kg/m² — the basis for the table opposite.
Shielding levels are set per room by a radiation physicist. Match the specified mmPb or kg/m² value to the products above, and we supply to that specification.
| Lead sheet | Thickness |
